56. A Moral Dilemma

Day 56
Location 13: Barcelona
Dec. 26, 2022

You know that moral dilemma where a train is rolling towards a group of five people trapped on the tracks and you're standing at a lever that, when pulled, will divert the train to another track with only one trapped person? Well, today I experienced an alternate, but similar version of that scenario where the moral aspect was removed, but the fear of a train crash was still very present:

In this case, one track led to a head-on collision with an opposing train and the other track led to a beautiful mountain-top view of Barcelona. Ultimately, it wasn't that similar to the moral dilemma.

At night, three key events happened:

First, I dressed up as a homeless man, and boy did I pull it off.

Second, I danced with a kid (video below) named God's Love. That's not his nickname, it's his legal first name. Two words: God's Love. He was from Nigeria, and so I thought maybe that was a typical sort of name there. "No, it's not normal" he assured me. You haven't even heard the best part yet. God's Love has two brothers and their names are God's Will and God's Hope. It's the most wild, beautiful thing I've ever heard. It's sort of like–and this is a random example– if George Foreman decided to name all of his five sons George Foreman. Oh wait, he did do that.

Third, I returned to the hostel and found two insufferable people having a conversation. Unfortunately, I was under the influence of alcohol at the time, so I don't remember what they were saying, but you must take my word for it that they were incredibly annoying. To document their dreadfulness, I subtly snuck a video of them. I went full stealth-mode. It was a spy's wet dream. I embodied an expert private eye tailing a mark for days without even a suspicion of mischief afoot. Except, I accidentally had the flash turned on, so they were hit with a blaring bright light and my undercover mission was immediately compromised even as I tried (and failed) to pretend to be photographing the wine bottle on the table.
