45. Laundering Money in Denmark

Day 45
Location 11: Aarhus
Dec. 15, 2022

Today, I'm still staying with friends in Aarhus, Denmark. My clothes are in desperate need of a wash and luckily, they have in-unit laundry!

Later in the day I lost my wallet, which is not a great thing to lose. In fact, it's pretty high up on the list of things you don't want to lose. Right up there with "an arm" or "your cool".

Even later in the day, we realized that my wallet was in the right pocket of my jeans which had just been washed and dried. Inadvertently, we had conspired to launder money overseas, a felony.

On my birthday, June 14, in 2019 my family and I ate at Sherpa House, a Nepalese restaurant in Golden, Colorado. Apparently the traditions of Olive Garden are not the same as the traditions of Sherpa House. By that I mean, in lieu of the waiters reluctantly singing "Happy Birthday" they did a quick, confusing ceremony where a white cloth was draped over my shoulders. The whole experience was a disorienting, but looking back my real confusion stems from why no one demanded that I shave the atrocious patch of a beard that had mounted an infestation on my face.

Anyway, all that is to say that for dinner, we all went to a big food hall with tons of different cuisine options and I chose to eat some nepalese food. To my dismay, no ceremonies were administered and no white cloth was awarded to me. On the bright side, the beard is long gone.
