25. I Saw Vanilla Ice in Prague

Day 25
Location 6: Prague
Nov. 25, 2022

So far, Vienna has been my favorite city. That said, Prague has been the most beautiful.

Along today's walking tour, we saw an artistically decorated Lennon Wall, named after the late John Lennon of The Beatles. It was confusing at first because when the sight was introduced to us, it was unclear if it was a Lenin Wall, which would have an entirely different implication.

There's a big church in Prague (obviously) and we climbed the many many stairs for a great view of the city. Turns out, it's a literal five minutes of walking up a very claustrophobia-inducing staircase to get to the top. To make things worse, everyone on our way up–i.e. their way down–kept saying "you're halfway there" no matter where we were in our progress. They thought they were being so funny, but it was annoying and not funny and I don't know why anyone would make those kinds of jokes.

On the way down, I kept telling people "you're halfway there" or "you're going the wrong way" or "what are you doing? You were supposed to take a left". It was very funny and very clever and everyone loved it.

Our legs were sore from the real-life stair master workout, so we got some mulled wine at a local Christmas market. My grandma is from Coney Island, Brooklyn which is a long way from Prague. So it was jarring to see this guy and his sweatshirt (left):

He seemed cool, but unfortunately didn't know my grandma.

In Budapest, I met a Canadian named Max. In Prague, I ran into him coincidentally at a bar and he invited me to join him and his friends on their way to Lucerne, a club. While dancing, I met some people I'd like to introduce you to...

...In the video below you'll meet (1) the only person there in a costume (2) a DJ who is showing the enthusiasm of someone reading an okay book and (3) Vanilla Ice himself!
