24. Is There Thanksgiving in Europe?

Day 24
Location 5 & 6: Krakow & Prague
Nov. 21, 2022

During the morning's free hostel breakfast, I brought up that today was Thanksgiving. As the lone American, no one else really cared, but a British girl suggested we all say "what we're thankful for". That question has the potential to get really deep and they kind of struggled with how to answer. I was a pro and went with the classic "friends, family, and health". They all subsequently went with the historically successful "same". They were naturals.

It's Thanksgiving, which means I'm allowed to listen to Christmas music. Plus, it was snowing so I'm doubly allowed to.
On my long train to Prague, I got bored. Then, I remembered that before my initial flight from New York to Germany, I had downloaded a movie onto my laptop. (I ended up not watching that movie because the plane had a their own great selection to choose from).

The movie that I had, and ended up watching, was Rio Bravo, a 1959 western starring Dean Martin (who I'm listening to croon Christmas music in the screenshot above. I swear I did not do that on purpose).

Once I arrived, I couldn't tell if I had made it to Prague or accidentally got on a train direct to Times Square. See if you can figure it out for yourself

In Prague, some friends and I from the hostel ventured out to a bar, and for the second time in one day, I sat in a circle as everyone said what we were thankful for.

Then we facetimed one of the girls' mom and family as they prepared their festive meal. Her mom answered we all greeted her with an enthusiastic "Mommmmmmm!". She was confused, but she liked it.
The bar we went to had live music and the bands played the most odd combination of songs I've ever heard. At one point, they played a mash-up of The Beatles' Twist & Shout and What Makes You Beautiful by One Direction. Despite the insane choices, it was great. Here's a little preview:
