Take a look below at my absolutely stunning views this morning when I walked outside (left) and during my breakfast (right):
Okay, so the breakfast view of small pieces of toast covered in melted cheese and topped with bacon isn't necessarily gorgeous. In fact, some might even call it a weird crossover between bruschetta and an even more than usual unhealthy charcuterie board.
I decided to go for a swim to cool down from the meat sweats and work off the calories from the literal cooked pig fat. It's important to note, though, that Lake Ohrid doesn't get warm until July. It's only March. Like a Trump supporter touring the US Capitol building on September 6th 2021, I was four months too early. The water was 37°F—only 5° colder and I'd be going for a skate, not a swim.
It was the both the coldest and most refreshing water I've ever felt. In fact it was so refreshing that after one dip in the lake, I dipped again, like George Costanza in the episode of Seinfeld where he gets yelled at for double dipping a chip. Now that I think about it, I was also like George Costanza in that episode of Seinfeld where after swimming in the pool he suffers from "shrinkage".
Here's a video montage of my day that captures the Seinfeld-like moment (of double dipping in the lake, not the shrinkage, of course):
